Frequently Asked Questions

Are your services covered by extended health benefits?

As a Registered Social Worker, my services are covered by most extended benefits programs. You can pay for my services through credit card or e-transfer and submit your receipt to your insurance provider to be reimbursed.

Do you offer online or in-person counselling?

I offer secure video sessions for clients across BC and in-person sessions in Port Moody.

How do I decide if you are the right counsellor for me?

You are welcome to book a free 15-minute phone consultation here so we can discuss what you are looking for, my therapy approach and I can answer any questions you might have, without any pressure or expectation. Afterward, you can contact me if you would like to proceed with therapy.

Are you LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, anti-racist and trauma-informed?

Absolutely. I believe everyone deserves to feel dignified and safe - I am committed to anti-oppressive principles, decolonization, and affirm lived-experiences of all gender, sexuality, race, (dis)ability, sex-work, substance use, poverty, and other experiences marginalized in capitalist society. I understand that our experiences in the world are shaped by our contextual identities, privileges and the ways we are subjected to oppression.

What issues do you help with?

Areas I commonly focus on are traumatic events, childhood, anxiety and depression, relationships, grief and loss, migration, and identity. Trauma can include a very wide variety of life experiences, and if you are unsure, I encourage you to book a free 15-minute consultation with me to discuss whether I am a good fit for the topics you would like to address.

Do you offer direct billing?

I offer direct billing only for:

Please get in touch if you have any questions.

What is the difference between a Registered Social Worker and a Clinic Counsellor?

In British Columbia, a Registered Clinic Counsellor must meet the requirements of the BC Association of Clinic Counsellors, whereas, a Registered Social Worker must meet the requirements of the BC College of Social Workers. Sometimes, insurance providers accept one provider or another. Both may offer therapy services, based on the education and experience of each individual provider.

What is the accessibility of your space?

Unfortunately, my counselling office is not wheelchair accessible, as it has six stairs leading to the door. If this is a barrier to accessing my services, please get in touch and we may be able to make alternative arrangements.

If you require masking, please inform me and I will be happy to wear a mask during our sessions. The space does not have an air purifier.
Natural light and lamps are the main sources of light in the counselling space, overhead florescent lights are not used.

The office is scent-free, however, please inform me if this is important to you and I will take further measures to air-out the space.

There is tea, water, blankets and cushions available.
